Relay for life is an annual tradition here at VHHS. Due to unfit conditions on Saturday, Relay for Life has been moved to Friday after school. The school board for Vestavia Hills is taking away half of our Relay for Life event. We need a half day of school on Friday so we can show full support for Relay. How are we supposed to raise as much, or more, funds as last years Relay if we only have half the time. Give us our half day so we can give to the American Cancer Society.

The traction this is gaining proves how many of us value this tradition over a normal school afternoon. It is exhausting to fight for every hour we lose but seeing this response keeps me moving forward.

its really unfair that they cut the time in half when we are trying to raise money for cancer research. we need that time to actually set up our stuff.
I'm tired and lazy and don't want to go to another full day of school if I have the choice
Relay is a charity event that should be celebrated more and should be recognized more in a way where we don’t have to shorten any kind of recognization for it
JUST GIVE US THE HALF DAY. nobody is gonna focus in class anyway if we are all worrying about getting to relay on time.
Well I think we should have day because some people have jobs and the trafffic will be really bad because a lot of people come from different school and if it’s a half day then people can set up instead of missing class.

Need more time to set up and get things running, half a day makes way more sense.
