SIGN & SHARE! REJECT PROPOSALS TO REDUCE PUBLIC OPENING HOURS AT TELFORD ICE RINK DURING THE SCHOOL DAY.

Why is this important?
Many people will be affected by these council proposals.....
- The Telford Ice Rink staff could potentially have contract working hours reduced, or potentially lose there jobs.
- There will be less opportunities for retired adults who use the adult morning sessions or public sessions to keep healthy, potentially increasing NHS costs.
- The tots sessions for young children will potentially have to stopped.
- Less leisure opportunities.
- The up and coming Telford figure skaters, who are competing at national level, including British Championships will have less opportunity to train.
- Telford Council will be breaking agreed contracts with skaters who are signed up to there skating memberships (this will then have to be reduced, skaters also entitled to stop there memberships due to the council breaking the agreed terms and eat in to the councils 40,000 they expect to save).
- Will effect Telford figure skating coaches livelihoods.
- Figure skaters and Ice Dancers that make use of the rink in the mornings will have to travel to other rinks or move training rinks completely.
Please sign and make the council aware the damage this could cause to the local community.

We go to the home educators session on Wednesdays and my kids absolutely love it. They have lessons too, and have a great time socially with their friends. They'd be devastated if this session was taken away from them.
Shutting in the daytime will mean losing patch ice. Losing patch ice will mean losing skaters that pay a monthly membership. Young skaters will find somewhere else to train. Decreasing opening hours is a slippery slope to closing all together. This must not happen.
My husband and myself skate every morning, it is a great way to keep fit. We are both nearly 60 and it is important to stay fit. We are unable to skate any other time as we both work nights, so the only time we get to skate is after work.
The adult morning sessions are brilliant Not only for fitness but many of us enjoy the encouragement by the professional coaches and the social interaction I would be distraught without this as I have a very stressful job and benefits from the sessions on adult morning sessions are beyond measure
Based on the limited information provided by the council, these changes will force me to give up ice skating, with many impacts, including impacting my health/fitness; losing the council nearly £1000 per year for my contract alone; my coach will lose income; staff may lose their jobs.

Waste loads of money on too many restaurants and the redevelopment of Southwater then cut back on leisure facility's aimed at young families.

My little girl loves the tots session - plus adults can practice during the day too without being bombarded by children/teenagers who are messing around on the ice during public skates. Also the public skates will become busier potentially and more people on the ice will cause many more accidents
