The purpose of this petition is to call on our community and leaders to reinstate the three employees recently terminated from DCEMS. No employee denies making a mistake. They are willing to undergo appropriate punishment as deemed necessary by whatever powers may be, short of termination. The loss of their jobs, retirement prospects and health care insurance for the oversight of an insensitivity on their part seems far too steep a penalty to pay when the offended party openly states they meant them no harm and even supported their continued employment. There was a lesson to be learned here and these three employees have learned it in profundum. These people have done great work in our community. They have, until recently, been important parts of our medical community. They not only did paid work, they volunteered their time, efforts and money to citizens having medical emergencies within Duplin County. They have not only saved lives, they have provided comfort to our citizens during some of their darkest days. They have done all of this despite their own personal burdens. It is only right that we step up and support them during their time of need. By signing this petition, you are not stating that you believe the employees have done no wrong, only that they should be corrected in a manner more befitting of three people who have provided over two decades of combined, selfless service.

The rationale behind this is ridiculous AT BEST. Get off scot-free? Eh, maybe not. But lose your job? Most definitely NOT! If you've been in this field ANY amount of time, you know we love to pick at each other, no matter how insensitive it may seem. It's because we're supposed to be a family!

Years and years of experience cannot be replaced in a short amount of time no matter whom is hired in as replacements for these three hard working individuals. I know due to the brain drain in the industry I work in. Qualified professionals are getting to be nonexistent. Reinstating would be in the best interest of the community....

Hard working and highly trained people like these are getting harder to find these days. The community would be better served keeping the three and giving them different punishment. Terminating them places a hardship on their fellow employees, the community and their families.

I've worked with these people on both a professional and volunteer basis. ( I've been under the direct care of Chris while being transported for cardiac treatment.) They are an asset to the community.

I know one of the individuals personally and know there was no harm meant. She is a hard working individual and cares about everyone, no matter their orientation.

If anyone should be terminated it probably should be the county officials that handled the process of terminating. From what I understand the process was handled incorrectly. Even the complainant has signed this petition and don't want punishment to this degree

Dedicated their life! Do the right thing and reprimand, not release.
