The bus company just confirmed that the late services are officially coming back to our route. I am genuinely stunned that this actually happened and truly believe the credit belongs to every one of you who spoke up. Please keep an eye on the schedules in the coming weeks to …

We the undersigned call upon Brighton & Hove buses to reinstate the Brighton to Uckfield N29 service calling at Lewes on Thursday and Friday nights. We would also ask that the last 28/29 service from Brighton on weekdays reverts to the previous later time of 2345 so that it can be used by those working in and enjoying the night time economy in Brighton. These cuts have hit disabled people and hospitality workers particularly hard as the only viable way of returning home at night, and have a detrimental effect to the whole community served by these routes. It has become both unaffordable for some, and very environmentally unsound for others, to make these late night journeys by private car or taxi.

Seeing this grow has been completely overwhelming and I honestly never thought it would reach so many people. This momentum belongs entirely to those of you who stepped up to help when this first started. It is truly humbling to see such a strong response from our neighbors.

When I was a teenager we used to try hitching or walking home late at night, both of which are highly risky activities. The night bus prevents young people from risking their lives getting home late at night.

As a female user of Lewes buses and the late bus service, a reliable safe extended public transport provision is critical to access to civic ownership of lewes. The service provides the link for residents and visitors to the surrounding businesses, whilst bringing others into lewes and supporting local businesses too.

Please do this. Lewes is practically part of Brighton and this makes it so difficult to gethome after a late shift at the hospital.

Losing the late night bus makes it impossible for anyone working late shifts in Brighton (especially those working in restaurants or pubs). The 23:45 last bus was also really useful. I think the numbers using the late buses have been underestimated because so many people have season tickets. This unnecessarily cuts Lewes off from Brighton; so near and yet too far.

I often caught the 10.33pm from Lewes Waitrose on a Wednesday & Thursday night as I work til 10pm. I now have to either get a taxi or wait til the last bus. If they want to cut buses, they should look at all the 29b in the daytime that are just 5 minutes behind a 28.

I use the bus service often! With the withdrawal of the night buses on a Thursday/Friday It means I've had to cancel some Hobbies/Pastimes I do in Brighton. Which with the winter months being so dark and dismal, It's making me hibernate more, which isn't good.
