As concerned parents, team players, and community members, we are calling for the immediate reinstatement of Coach Rodrigues, who has been unfairly suspended following an incident involving his son, a minor and player on his team, being physically pushed by a referee during a recent match.
Coach Rodrigues is a respected leader, mentor, and role model who prioritizes the safety and growth of his players. The disciplinary action taken against him appears to be a misrepresentation of the facts and fails to hold the referee accountable for inappropriate conduct toward a child.
We respectfully request that Mass Youth Soccer Association conduct a full, unbiased investigation and lift the suspension of Coach Rodrigues until all facts and video are reviewed thoroughly. Suspending a coach for standing up for his child’s well-being sends the wrong message to players, families, and the broader community.
We stand with Coach Rodrigues and ask for a fair and just resolution.

Fairness should be applied here full reinstatement must be done for coach Fernando
He is one of my many mentors in life and family to me. Seeing him stick up for his son because a grown man put his hands on his son should not be treated this way.

Fernando is a great coach and mentor.
As a concerned parent I feel coach acted correctly today’s and adult official who put their hands on a minor. He was defending the player not know what would happen next. I also feel these charges a being brought forward by a team who is know for overly aggressive players. Please look at the footage of the game. The Smithfield team players not only punched a player during a play but they also used illegal body blocking like a football player and during one play they stood over a down player of the IFA team and did not allow the player to return to his feet. The official did not control the game and allowed for play that could injure athletes. We also feel that the team reporting this, who lost the match, played up one player, had 3 07’s rostered on a 08 team are doing this all out of spite of losing. This should show you their true character.
Fernando is one of the best coaches I’ve ever had. We need him.
