As members of the Sporting Club, we disagree with the Sporting Club's decision to abruptly fire Clif Johnson and cancel all of his classes and programs. Clif Johnson has run the boxing program for over 20 years. He and his classes have been a popular mainstay to what the Sporting Club offers to its members and is also an expected component to our membership. As members of the Sporting Club, and with Clif Johnson's consent, we are petitioning to have Clif's position reinstated at the Sporting Club immediately.

I was very disappointed to hear about Cliff being let go from the Sporting Club, with seemingly no just cause. Cliff was an excellent trainer. I knew when I attended his classes that I would be getting an excellent and full body workout. I wish that I could feel that this petition would make a difference, but I doubt that it will. And, if I were Cliff, I'm not sure that I'd want to return to what sounds like a "hostile" atmosphere. I can only hope that the Sporting Club treats its employees better going forward. Clif is the true embodiment of what it means to be a coach. He is a leader, friend, mentor and inspiration to anyone who has ever had the pleasure to get to know him. I have been a member of the Club for 14 years, and I can honestly say the place will not be the same without him.
Clif is the only reason I go to the Sporting Club. I have been going to his classes for years. The boxing program is unique and he is a great instructor! I cannot imagine why he was let go so abruptly. I will be cancelling my membership if he is not brought back. More importantly, I hope that the Sporting Club rights this wrong on a professional level.
I have been a member of the Sporting Club for 25 years and Clif is definitely one of its star instructors. The boxing program is one of the things that makes the club unique. I truly hope he can be reinstated asap.
Clif is the only reason I am a member of the Sporting Club. I joined the club mainly because of the boxing program. From day 1 Clif has always gone above and beyond to help me with my fitness goals. I have been an athlete all of my life and I've never met a coach/trainer who is as passionate about teaching the sport to others as Clif is. I can pay a lot less money to lift weights somewhere else. I will be canceling my membership unless Clif is rehired.
Let's bring Cliff back!
Cliff is a phenomenal instructor and trainer! It is because of him that I've felt at home at the Sporting Club. He has always been welcoming, kind, and has pushed me over the past couple of years to challenge myself physically and mentally. Undoubtedly, because of him I have set and reached fitness goals I wouldn't have even thought of. His boxing class, fight challenge, and Just Cliff have become staples for me. Without him, I'm finding my own routine but I'm sure I could do that at any other gym.

Clif was a great resource for the members and passionate about the sport he helped promote here. It shouldn't be lost that Clif was instrumental is starting fight night and raising money for the local community. It was a pleasure knowing Clif for my short time at the club and he will be sorely missed. I'd also have to add that my opinions of the club's loyalty with this decision has definitely been called into question!
