With the coronavirus putting millions of people out of work, people are struggling to make ends meet. There is money however that is being unjustly kept by colleges. San Diego State has stayed silent on whether they plan to give SDSU students refunds for campus fees. The campus has been shut down for the remaining of the year meaning students are not able to use the campus services they already paid for such as the Student Body Center Fee ($237), the Instructionally Related Activity Fee ($244), and more.
We demand a partial refund for our campus tuition as we are no longer able to access these services. We will not allow SDSU to hoard our money for resources we can’t even use. Help get YOUR money back!

The petition reached 100 signatures this morning. I am finalizing a formal letter to the university administration to demand a breakdown of these unused fees by the end of the week.

We are approaching the one hundred signature mark which is the threshold required for our initial outreach attempt to the university administration. Please circulate this link to fellow students so that we hit that target before we submit our formal demand letter to the bursar.

The online classes offered at the second half of the semester I could have done for free at my home university. More over the quality has decreased (as assignments been cancelled and altered). I therefore see it as a legitimate demand to get a partial refund.
We need to receive a refund, even if it's partial. If we don't receive a refund, I want them to give a valid reason to US STUDENTS as to why and to not to ignore this issue. I don't appreciate the university leaving students in the dark about the services and resources we paid for.
We didn't sign up for online classes and are being denied our desired education and some classes altogether. Students and their parents and families deserve a refund especially since the stimulus bill will not be assisting young adults attending college but still dependents under their parents.
Also graduating seniors paid a graduation fee to now not have a graduation. Covid19 is in no part SDSU’s fault however students have been adversely impacted. I have lost my graduation and with the new date, do not know if I’ll be able to attend. We should receive some of the mandatory on campus fees back to students as we cannot be on campus. We payed full tuition for online classes but that is not what I signed up for.
While COVID-19 is not SDSU’s fault and they have had to adapt to face a pandemic, many of us are left with less than desirable online classes. For many of us, we have labs and clinicals where our learning is very hands on and can’t be done on a computer. We didn’t pay for online classes that don’t meet our course or learning expectations at the end of the day. I’m addition, many students and their families have been financially affected by COVID-19. For students in off campus housing we are still be charged rent. Pleas ease our burden and meet us halfway.
I would like to get the tuition fee/ a part of the tuition fees back
the campus is not in use and we are at home still paying for the facility. this is unfair and not what we signed up for.

When continuing my education at San Diego State relies purely on financials, every dollar counts. It’s time SDSU proves that they care about their students and the situations they are in.
