The 85% hurdle requirement for this class is too high for a foundations class. We believe that it does not follow the hurdle requirement recommendations given by Adelaide University and causes unnecessary stress on students.

  • the sum of all hurdle requirements in a single course (except clinical practice) does not exceed 60% of the total assessment for the course.
  • not more than 3 separate assessment tasks with hurdle requirements per course (note that this precludes the bundling of different assessment tasks into a single hurdle),
  • be applied sparingly to courses
  • be used to enhance student performance rather than to compel performance

If you are a student of this class, please sign this petition to make the University aware that the class needs to be restructured. This class has only changed its format recently and we believe the new format is too drastic.

We would like the class to reintroduce a balance of Exams and Assessments

We would also like any hurdle requirements to be reduced to at least 65% but would prefer a hurdle requirement of 50% which is the standard pass rate.

This course is really stressful. And the pass mark is very unreasonable. Please restructure the pass mark with an achievable score.
