The municipality has formally agreed to a tariff audit and a freeze on the scheduled increases. We are now transitioning to an oversight committee to ensure these reductions are reflected on our upcoming billing cycles.

SIGN THE ONLINE PETITION

Yes we need all South Africans to sign the petition drive for reducing high tariffs.

All tarriffs went up 01/07/21

Rates - 4.9%

Water - 8.5%

Electricity - 14.59%

Refuse - 4.9%

Sanitation - 8.5%

We residents of Ethekwini pay exhorbitant highest property rates in the whole of South Africa, that's ridiculous and we have right to demand municipality reduces all our tariffs.

Our people cannot afford this and yet why are we complacent. We need to take action now.

I have been actively driving this petition campaign, we need 10 000 signatures minimum.

We will bring changes to our municipality to help our communities.

Updates

August 28, 2021

The momentum generated by this campaign has secured us a formal meeting with representatives from the municipal finance committee. I am currently assembling the documentation required to present our case for tariff adjustments directly to the decision makers.

This municipality is bleeding the taxpayers ratepayers and it's citizens and driving it to the ground with absorbant utility billing and looting of state resources. So many are not paying for the services and we have to subsidise them at the cost of our ruin

My bill is Over R4200 this month. 85% of my salary is going to this ridiculous bill which increases every month. So many people are unemployed or live on just minimal wage. How are we supposed to feed our families?

high increase in tariff is not justifiable. because of lack of maintenance and upkeep of our suburbs and the country in general. ii revenues not used for the purpose it is intended. Stolen for personal gains.

We are without jobs after our shop is burnt. Now we are burdened by this increases. The municipality thinks that it's citizens are milking cows. And as for service delivery...... It leaves much to be desired. From grass cutting to streetlights to refuse removal.... All these departments are under preforming with tons of unsubstantiated excuses.
