Currently, Delaware hasn't had a change in requirements to run for elected office since the 1960's. Our goal is to get 8,000 signatures to change the Mayor age requirements from 30 years old, to 25 years old.

I was just reading through the comments again and it is honestly wild to see how many people realize that laws from the sixties basically don't apply to how we live right now. I have been spending my nights digging through old city codes while my coffee gets cold because I keep thinking about how much younger leaders could actually change the local energy if we just let them get on the ballot.

I believe younger people are more in touch than ever on issues true to the people--there is no reason to keep Wilmington's mayoral age requirement so high, especially compared to places like Dover.
I totally agree with this petition cause at the age of 25 I myself wanted to run for mayor.
If a majority of the Wilmington voters believe a 25 year old should be the next mayor, she or he should be the next mayor.
By the age of 25 you can vote, you can drink, you can buy a gun, drive a car and go to war. Why should you not be allowed to govern the city you live in?
I think if people are ready to attack that big role don't stop them that may discourage them for the second attempt
Let's make it happen I've been thinking about running but I'm too young as well.

Wisdom isn't given to age! I know more young people wise beyond their years. Mr. James is one of the ones I've had the pleasure to meet, pray with and hear his testimony (story)
