Public Schools in the St. Louis region are not serving the needs of young people in recovery despite substance use disorder being the third-leading cause of death among U.S. teens (CDC, 2023).

It’s time for our educational institutions to step up and collaborate on creating a public recovery high school (RHS) —a proven model that reduces relapse rates to less than 30% and increases graduation rates to over 85% (Association of Recovery Schools, 2023). Significant funding and legislative support already exist to help launch a RHS in the St. Louis region.
