Help us to amend MA S.60/H.103 “An act dedicating 1% of the recreational marijuana excise tax to youth substance abuse prevention” to include funding substance abuse counselors in each school district.
Why? Many substance treatment programs are not able to treat minors. Therefore, we believe that schools should offer substance abuse treatment options so they are easily accessible to students. Many students first start using addictive substances in middle and high school. Schools can be a place where these addictions are treated early before they harm someone forever.
Our school had a grant-funded substance abuse counselor but when the grant was lost, so was the position. By signing this petition, you are helping support our goal which is to take 1% of the recreational marijuana excise tax to use for both substance abuse education and counseling in schools. Thanks for your support!
Substance abuse is a mental and physical health issue, a socio-economic issue, and a family-support issue. Help our children now before they end up irrevocably in the crimo system. All too often, school is the only place kids have people who care enough to help them. Support children, not prisons
