The administration confirmed that the drawing studio stays in the Darwin building. I am exhausted but relieved that the light and the space are safe for now. Keep an eye on the department to ensure this promise holds firm.

Under the expansion plans at the Royal College of Art the drawing studio is facing relocation. The studio has been situated at the top of the Darwin building for decades, with a spectacular South facing rooftop view of London and the most amazing natural light in the college. It is a beacon of inter-disciplinarity, being one of the only spaces offering cross course teaching. Unfortunately this department will be downsized and moved to a new location with significantly less natural light and less space. Please sign this petition if you support the drawing studio staying where it is.

Reaching this level of support feels heavy because it confirms how many of us know exactly what we stand to lose. It has been a long and exhausting climb but seeing this response proves that the studio holds a place in so many lives.

It is not just a room it is the heart of the college. Keep the studio where it belongs.

Spent so many hours up there. Its a legendary spot and moving it is a huge mistake. Leave the studio where it is.

The view alone makes it iconic. Keep the drawing studio on the roof!!!

Seriously don't do this. Moving it to some basement area is gonna ruin the whole vibe for everyone.

Dumb move. Literally everyone uses that space. Why mess with something that actually works for the students?

That light is the whole reason that space works. You cant just replace natural light with office bulbs. Stop ruining the best part of the building.
