It has been in the paper recently that plans to re-open the railway through Armagh are unlikely to happen. Everyone has been given until 12 April 2013 to have their say on this matter. Obviously it will cost a lot of money to get this railway re-opened but it will make Armagh more accessible and therefore help all our local businesses and traders. It will also provide quicker transport links for the citizens of Armagh cutting down on car traffic into Portadown making life easier for people who get buses or drive the dozen miles or so each way on a daily basis to the train station. Think of the time and money it will save these people. The train is a cheap and quick form of transport, so those who travel every morning to Portadown will save money and time that can only improve their work/personal life balance.
