Armagh City is big enough for a proper rail service. As someone interested in railway history here, one of the things I've never understood is the lack of guts from the powers in Stormont when it comes to undoing the terrible errors of past politicians who shut railway line after railway line like they were gates or doors. As one of the millennial generation, I've never seen a proper reopening of a railway line here, with the only one I recall being a short line to Antrim which is nothing more than a quick shortcut. There's some closed lines that wouldn't work well today, but there's lines that definitely would, Armagh is one such line, Tyrone should see trains again too. Other parts of the UK have reopened old railways, and the South has reopened line after line even in the midst of a financial crisis down there. Railways are the transport that should be focused on, Armagh City should be reconnected to the network.

We should be considering the expansion of the existing rail network and reduce our use of cars. Investment in Rail has proved a success elsewhere and use is fast increasing year on year.

I would love this to happen as it would open up more opportunities for the towns armagh portadown people and better shopping trips and shorted time to travel than in a car. =) Please someone make this happen. =)

Some of the money that is spent presently on the Armagh-Portadown road should be diverted towards a rail fund

This would be a fantastic commodity for the community of Armagh and nearby regions.

Armagh would benefit from better accessibility by train. Tourists have expressed that only thing that discourages them to visit Armagh is poor accessibility. Armagh would also lose out business to other towns/cities such as Newry and Portadown around if it does not get a railway as people travel to there to get their shopping done. And some people would consider moving out of Armagh because of lack of rail connectivity. These are just a few aspects out of many. Expansion of railway from Portadown to Armagh is certainly something should be considered very seriously.I fully support Armagh for need of having a railway connection.

I have to travel to Portadown everyday to get the train. The train is the the best way to travel into Belfast. A railway line in Armagh would attract new customers from armagh and surrounding areas how won't consider driving to Portadown every morning. Please, please give serious consideration to this proposal.
