We, parents of students within the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District ("PVPUSD"), hereby request that the PVPUSD formally recognize Black History Month. We further request that this be accomplished by including instruction on famous African Americans during Black History Month, which occurs in February.
Seeing this kind of momentum confirms that many of you believe as strongly as I do that our schools must reflect the history of all our students. Every story shared in the comments reminds me why I started this and keeps me going.

My daughter is constantly asking why she doesnt learn about these leaders in her history classes. It is so important for the curriculum to actually reflect reality.

Its 2020 how is this not already happening? Our kids deserve better than living in a bubble. Teach them the full history of this country.
