PETITION TO THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF SAULT STE MARIE
REDUCTION OF FRONT LINE FIREFIGHTERS
We, the undersigned, request the City of Sault Ste Marie suspend its plan to cut almost 25 per cent of frontline Fire Department personnel until there has been a full independent assessment of the impact on Public Safety, the Safety of Firefighters and my Insurance Rates.
Reaching our next milestone will help ensure that city officials recognize the gravity of these proposed cuts. Please direct your networks to this page so our collective position remains undeniable when we present these concerns to the council.

The feedback I have received from residents highlights a deep concern for how these staffing reductions might realistically affect our emergency response times. I am currently reaching out to local officials to ensure this data is placed directly in front of those who have the authority to reconsider these cuts.

Reaching our first hundred signatures will provide a clear baseline of public concern to present before the council. I am asking you to send this link to those in your immediate circle who have not yet had the chance to read the proposal. A consolidated showing of interest now strengthens our position as we prepare to advocate for a formal safety assessment.

It makes me wonder why city council and city administration would refuse a free risk assessment....is it because they know what the results would be? Does it REALLY make sense to reduce firefighters and close a station or stations when fires burn faster and hotter????

As a Ward 6 resident, with an increased home insurance rate already (since I am so far from a fire hydrant and hall), I totally BACK you in your efforts to keep our city safe! Good luck!

In addition to domestic calls, our fire fighters are often called upon by large industries in this city when a company's internal emergency services needs additional help to contend with a catastrophic event. For the sake of public safety, I am urging our city officials to reconsider cutbacks to our Fire Services.

My safety and that of my family outway any savings that the city thinks it is making by their decision. What value can you put on a Life?Mine or one of our firefighters. All is well until there is a major fire and then it is too late. We deserve to at least have an independent assessment done .

I live in a large condo complex 303 MacDonald ave unit 509.I am over 80 years old and fear that the reduction in the firefighting crews adds to the chances of me and my wife not making out of the building in the event of a major fire.

Had a house fire. I know all the risks firefighters are up against. From propane explosions, gun shells going off, not to mention running out of air. I have the most respect for these men and woman. Our dog died but people were protected.
