¿Quisieras que tu profesional de la salud tuviera la educación necesaria? El Proyecto del Senado 78 de 2021 rebaja los requisitos educativos necesarios para la profesión naturopática en Puerto Rico (https://openstates.org/pr/bills/2021-2024/PS78/).
Este proyecto permite ordenar laboratorios a profesionales naturopáticos a nivel de una licenciatura que no requiere un grado doctoral, y sin la garantía de capacitación específica en el análisis de laboratorios (https://www.funiber.org/maestria-en-ciencias-natur...; https://www.trinityschool.org/program/chhp). El mismo omite mención del desarrollo actual de la profesión a nivel global y sus más recientes consensos (https://worldnaturopathicfederation.org/project/he...). Asimismo, el proyecto contradice la definición de la profesión naturopática asignada por el Departamento del Trabajo al mismo código federal citado en el proyecto (https://taxonomy.nucc.org/?searchTerm=naturopath).
Para realizar evaluaciones de laboratorios, en Canadá la profesión naturopática requiere un grado doctoral. En Estados Unidos, también requiere un grado doctoral. ¡Puerto Rico no se merece menos! PS 78: NO.

Would you like your health professional to have the necessary education? Puerto Rico Senate Project 78 of 2021 would reduce the educational requisites of the naturopathic profession in Puerto Rico (https://openstates.org/pr/bills/2021-2024/PS78/).
This project would allow naturopathic professionals to order labs at a level of licensure which does not require a doctoral degree, and without guarantee of specific training in laboratory analysis (https://www.funiber.org/maestria-en-ciencias-natur...; https://www.trinityschool.org/program/chhp). It omits mention of the most updated developments of the profession at a global scale and its most recent consensus statements (https://worldnaturopathicfederation.org/project/he...). Furthermore, the project contradicts the definition of the naturopathic profession assigned by the US Department of Labor to the very same code cited in the project (https://taxonomy.nucc.org/?searchTerm=naturopath).
To practice laboratory assessments, in Canada the naturopathic profession requires a doctoral degree. In the United States, it requires a doctoral degree. Puerto Rico deserves no less! PS 78: NO.

Este proyecto no puede ser avalado. No solo es impropio y perjudicial para los pacientes, sino que promueve la insuficiencia de preparación académica para servidores en el campo de la salud.
I am a licensed ND since 1982 and former dean of an accredited Naturopathic medical school in Washington State. Puerto Rico Senate Project 78 puts the people of Puerto Rico at great risk. Vote no! Doctoral training (4 years) and training in laboratory assessment are critical for making accurate diagnostic and treatment decisions for patients. The risks? misinterpreting labs, ordering the wrong labs, not recognizing a red flag on a lab or not ordering the right labs can be life and death situations. Lab assessment and orders are part of daily decision making for 4 trained ND's in CNME accredited institutions in licensable doctoral programs with proper training, clinical supervision and testing in laboratory assessment. Say NO to Project 78.
I am a licensed naturopathic physician in the United States and stand in solidarity with my fellow naturopathic physicians in Puerto Rico in support of high educational requirements for medical professionals.
The public has a right to know the distinction between those who have been trained and studied at the doctoral level and those who have not! Puerto Rico deserves the same distinction of criteria for Naturopathic doctors here as in Canada and United States.
Un paralegal no es lo mismo que un abogado, un enfermero no es lo mismo que un médico, un Naturopata NO es lo mismo que un Doctor en Medicina Naturopatica. No al PS78

I am a licensed Naturopathic Doctor for the past 3 years and who spent 5 years to get my ND medical degree. During my education we went through the pros and cons of using laboratory diagnosis to treat our patients and to understand which labworks are the ost pertinent and how to treat them if needed. When you do some bloodwork you also have the ability to diagnose someone with a condition and someone without the physician level education should not have the ability to order bloodwork and diagnose medical conditions.
