Citizens signing this petition are announcing their disapproval of legislation (House Bill 4780) introduced in the Michigan State House of Representatives that would strip tax collection, elections, and assessing functions from townships and charter townships and give these functions to counties. Citizens signing this petition also acknowledge the importance and value of townships and charter townships.

I HAVE BEEN SPENDING MY TIME MEETING WITH LOCAL OFFICIALS TO EXPLAIN EXACTLY WHY HOUSE BILL 4780 IS A DISASTER FOR OUR TOWN! THE FEEDBACK FROM TOWNSHIP LEADERS HAS BEEN INCREDIBLY POWERFUL AND THEY ARE STARTING TO NOTICE OUR MASSIVE PUSHBACK!!

Keep local control where it belongs. Lansing needs to stop trying to run our townships from so far away.

This is ridiculous. My township does a great job with elections and taxes. Why fix what isnt broken?? Get your hands off our local government.

ABSOLUTELY NOT. Counties are way too big and dont care about our specific needs. Leave our township alone.
