We the under signed object to the development of the land known as Ham Fields, such development will have a significant negative impact on the Local Gap between Hassocks and Hurstpierpoint and will be contrary to policy C3 of the Adopted Local Plan, it will be contrary to the Secretary of State's decision in 13/01250/FUL College Lane where he said “The long established Local Gap is already particularly narrow and vulnerable……fails to satisfy the environmental dimension of sustainable development as set out in the Framework”, it is premature and speculative in light of the emerging Neighbourhood Plan, it is contrary to National Planning Policy Framework 17(5), 17(7), 32(2), 32(3), 61, 75, 109 and 124, it is contrary to the Air Quality Action Plan and Air Quality Management Air of Stonepound Crossroads. The submission of the Highway Authority is flawed and unproven, it is based on projections without any substantive evidence. Cllr Coote believes the Highways Authority is “not fit for purpose” and Cllr Trumble said their findings were “lies, damned lies and statistics”. Even so Stonepound currently operates 10% over capacity and by 2018 is projected to operate 14% over capacity with current committed developments - that is 40% worse - no consideration has been given to the 4,000 dwellings in the Burgess Hill northern arc. Stonepound cannot accommodate any further traffic. Environmental Health claim air quality will be fine by then because fuel technology will be better and cars will be better - how are they going to make everybody buy new cars? What happens if fuel technology does not improve?
