Protect the Pennington African Cemetery
Last year a family moved into the Borough of Pennington and has used the long driveway that has always belonged to the Pennington African Cemetery. Now this family is suing the PAC for complete easement of the driveway so that they can build another house on their side of the driveway and maintain complete control.
This single driveway is the only access point to the Pennington African Cemetery, the only place in the Borough where African Americans were allowed to be buried for 200 years. This is where many African Americans who were pioneers of the Huntingdon Valley, Pennington Borough, Hopewell Borough and Sourland Mountains are buried. Black soldiers of both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars are buried here.
Please spread the word and ask for anyone who can to support the efforts to preserve the history of African-Americans in Pennington, and allow their families to visit them in peace!
