The court has ruled decisively in our favor and the proposed changes to our health coverage will not proceed. I am deeply appreciative of the 498 individuals who maintained their resolve throughout this long process. We will remain vigilant to ensure that these promises are honored in the future.

Petition: We, the retirees and expected retirees of NYC, demand that our current medical coverage during retirement remain untouched. We protest and demand that our Medicare coverage and secondary medical insurance coverage, to which we are entitled, NOT be replaced by an Advantage Care plan as the City wishes to do. That is not what we worked for, not what we were promised, not what we want, and is outrageously unfair after having dedicated our careers to public service for which our financial rewards were often less than what we would have gotten had we worked in the private sector. We demand that all remain the same, with no changes – as was promised.

We worked diligently for the city. Now is the time for the city to work diligently for its retirees. We gave you the best years of our lives. We helped the city out with 0 increases and deferred pay when you needed it. It’s time to help the retirees
Worked my whole life for these benefits. They’re not entitlements. We aren’t falling for the bait & switch. I want the coverage I paid into all these years, not what you want to switch us to.
Do not change my Medicare benefits! I do not want privatization of benefits! NYC, keep your promise. I served many the NYC community and worked under the assumption that you were going to keep your end of the deal. Throughout those years, I kept my end of the deal! Be fair!
Please stop NYC and Mayor Di Blasio from taking our Medicare and turning it into a Meficare Advantage Plan. I am 70 and my husband is 80. We have had many medical conditions including cancer so we don't want to worry that quality drs and hospitals WILL NOT ACCEPT a new plan that sounds so inadequate!!!
Save our Health Insurance. You do not know what doctors will agree to accept a new plan. Some of us have conditions that if not covered will cost us thousands of dollars a year. Don’t try and double talk us. We are too smart..

The UFT itself, in their workshops for retirees about to turn 65, has always counseled, "Stay away from Medicare Advantage." So, it's OUTRAGEOUS that they have set us up to have Medicare STOLEN from us. STOP this from happening!
