As a community we need to come together onTUESDAY, DECEMBER 14 @ 5:30pm at Northport City Hall to express our concerns on the proposal of a 51 unit, 103 parking space subdivision; Townes at Clearlake.
Townes at Clearlake is proposed to have two entrances, one from Clearlake Street and the other from Highway 69 Northwood Lake Drive East will be a primary access road. Clearlake is located directly east of the Y at Northwood Lake Drive East and Dove Creek. The traffic in the neighborhood will increase as well as traffic flowing north on Highway 69. The additional daily traffic will result in additional stress on our 66 year old dam.
The Northport Planning & Zoning Commission Meeting on December 14, 2021 will determine if the subdivision is a favorable or unfavorable development for the City of Northport. YOUR PRESENCE at that meeting is vital to convey Townes at Clearlake is not beneficial to Northwood Lake subdivision.
If the Northport Planning & Zoning Commission votes a favorable recommendation the request will be presented at the December 20th City Council Meeting at 5:30pm. A Public Hearing will be provided to voice our concerns again about the new subdivision.

I am afraid of how this will impact our traffic flow throughout the lake which is a 25 mile speed limit and the destruction of woodland areas that wildlife inhabit. Also it seems that much of the area is wetlands which is under EPA guidelines. I vote NO.
Not for this townhouse construction as it will Impact the wet lands and Northwood Lake dam with the increased pressures from traffic crossing the 60 year dam! I understand the developers attempted to get a favorable concent to build here in 2014 but was denied even after the zoning was changed to commercial and apartments.
I have concerns about the requested variances…what is the hardshipthat require a variance? A Financial reason is usually not considered a hardship. hardship.
Preserving our neighborhood from this type of development is crucial. The wetland needs protection and so do our home values. Townhouses will decrease the values of single family home ownership.
This development is unacceptable both for human and ecological health and well being. The placement of this housing development is at risk for major flooding and would be in the direct line of fire should there be a dam failure. The proposed area is also a vital wetland area that is necessary to the area for flood prevention, water collection and filtration, and wildlife habitat.
Please do not allow town homes to be built next to Nortwood Lake.
This new development is an irresponsible venture. That area is clearly a flood zone. Additionally, it will effect the wildlife currently residing in that section of the neighborhood.

Adding the connection to Resource Dr. will increase traffic in an area heavily used by kids who attend Tiger Rock in the afternoons and evenings and use the Baptist Association lot for parking. That “street” is clogged at those times which will cause strife with future residents of the new development. Please move this plan to a different area that has the space, perhaps on 43 or Rose Blvd.
