We the undersigned residents of Greenwich respectfully ask members of the Greenwich RTM to please REJECT ANY funds from the Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL).
For all good intents and purposes, we believe Greenwich elections should be funded by Greenwich residents, not by any other 3rd party interest or non-profit organization. This is a reasonable, respectable, and bi-partisan point of view.
It is a vital tenet of our democracy that elections are managed locally and funded by local and state tax dollars only. This is a beautiful part of our self-governance.
Please do not introduce 3rd party money into our local elections.

I am watching the graph tick upward and getting so worked up because we are staring down the two-fifty mark right now. If we can just get those last few names on the board before the meeting maybe they will actually look at us instead of checking their phones.

I just saw the number hit triple digits and honestly it feels surreal that a hundred people already signed on to keep our elections right here at home. My coffee is cold because I keep refreshing the page but it really is incredible to see this kind of energy for local control.

I really never thought this would take off like it has when I first sat down at my laptop and started ranting about local funding but honestly the momentum is just wild and it feels like people are finally paying attention to how our elections are run. It is honestly pretty surreal to see so many neighbors jumping on board because I was worried I was shouting into a void about the whole third party money issue.

An organization such as CTCL which presents itself as non-political is likely to make changes in voting procedures which appear to be reasonable and difficult to reject, but which can actually intentionally influence voting results in subtle ways.
Please do not let a partisan private organization exert influence on our elections! Keep our the control and running of elections in Greenwich honest, transparent and local! vote no to the $500,000 of Zuckerbucks from CTCL!
Greenwich is comprised of the citizens of Greenwich who live here and pay taxes here. We need to have our own political elections without outside influence.
Allowing this nonprofit to 1)have the contact info of our voters and 2)to communicate with them via email or app, will necessarily co-opt the voters.
3rd party funding is antithetical to election integrity, opening Pandora's Box for election influence, now or in the future. PLEASE VOTE NO!!!!!

Astonishing that the wealthiest town in CT would be interested in third party money. Why is the figure basically the same amount as the annual budget of the registrar's office. If they had a project that required additional funds, why wouldn't they simply submit a request to the BET with the plan and get the allocation? As everyone else does? Too much liability for Greenwich, and sets a precedent that any department can accept thrid party money for any reason. NO THANK YOU.

There is no such thing as 'free' money with no strings attached from outside interests. Vote NO to outside money in our local election.
