Ontario’s Pro Grants were designed to suppport parents in identifying barriers to parent engagement in their own community and to find local solutions to involve more parent in support of student achievement, human rights and equity, and well being.
Since 2006, the Ontario government has supported our 22,000 Pro Grants to schools councils and over 900 regional / provincial PRO Grants. This is a total investment of $34.7 million to help increase parent engagement at the local, regional, and provincial levels. Now the Provincial Government wants to put a PAUSE on this very important funding, impacting Parent Engagement a key part of their children’s learning and of Ontario’s success in Education.

Without pro-grant engagement events it would be difficult for me to access resources. I have attended pro-grant event where I have learned how to raise resilient children, about cyber safety, how to assist children with mental health issues, the importance of good nutrition and so many other topics.
Pro grant gives us an opportunity to reach out and engage our parent community. Nothing is free in life and we are at a school of 270 children. Fundraising is challenging and the money makes a significant impact on what we are able to do. With out, we are unable to do anything for just the parents. Please keep this grant alive.
As a parent and teacher I know how important parent engagement is to the success of all students. Pro Grants help schools fund crucial programs that promote school/home partnerships. This is WAY more important than cheap beer or longer hours for LCBO or Beer Store. Get your priorities straight Premier Ford!!
Having participated in the organizational aspects of Pro Grants as a SEAC representative, I have seen first hand the benefits of Pro Grants for the special needs community. Please keep Pro Grants going, do it for our children!
As Co-Chair of the Parent Council at St. Clement Catholic School, I am hoping that the Provincial Government will reinstate this very important program that encourages parent engagement. The timing of this "pause" was particularly unfortunate, as many parent councils had already had to book sessions and have been left in a bind.
We have used this grant at our school to support parent engagement in many areas. Most recently, mental health awareness in youth, bullying, and safe social media practices. These grants have been a great boon to parents and schools alike to help bring awareness and support to families who may otherwise not receive it or know there's a problem.
Grant's should be granted to students. The children worked hard for it. It encourages them to do more.

I support the reinstatement of the pro grants. As a member of the parent council, I have seen firsthand the benefit of these additional funds to already cash strapped schools. I strongly recommend the reinstatement of the pro grant program across Ontario.
