Dear Parent and Community Stakeholder:
The Tennessee Department of Education has elected to withhold approximately $3.4 million from Metro Nashville Public schools because our elected schoolboard denied the approval of the charter for Great Hearts. As a result, this funding will be allocated to other school districts.
The lack of these funds directly impacts ALL students. Our school district can not weather such an financial impact. This funding extends beyond administrative purposes only, and is utilized for utilities, student transportation, maintenance of schools, including restrooms and classrooms. The true victims will be our children.
Please stand with us to tell the Tennessee Commissioner of Education that our 81,000 students and families should not be penalized. Stand with us to tell the Tennessee Department of Education to restore our funding. Restoring our Funding is Saving Our Students.

KIDS COME FIRST. PERIOD.
3.4 million is a huge hit for our district. This is going to make everything so much worse for the kids who are already struggling. Totally unfair.
So frustrated by this. Metro schools need every penny for basic repairs and busing. Stop punishing the wrong people.
My kids go to these schools and they deserve a safe building with working bathrooms. Stop playing games with their education.
This is rediculous. You are hurting the kids over a disagreement with the school board. Give our students the money they deserve.
