The purpose of this online petition is to show we disagree with the 50% increase in fees for Mandarin classes from $799 to $1199.

By signing this petition, each student:

-believes the price increase is too steep and student numbers will decrease as a result; this may affect the learning environment

-is very likely to not continue to the next stage purely because of the price

-considers the original price to be the biggest deciding factor of going to TAFE to study Mandarin

-is worried there will not be enough students for the class to run and have the same teacher again

We are asking TAFE to reconsider the price increase or at the very least, allow students that have just completed Cert. 1 Stage 1 to continue onto Stage 2 at the same price.

The $1199 price tag will definitely deter many young people from enrolling in TAFE language classes. It is far too expensive. Unfortunately, the recent price increase has turned this language course into a luxury commodity that many of us can't afford at all.

As TAFE students in Stage I of the course I think some consideration should be given the fees designated for participating in Stage II. I find this increase in fees far too excessive and prohibitive for me to attend the next stage. This is especially so as we have no guarantee that we will have the same teacher or when the classes will take place.

It is stage 2 of the one course, level 1.

The price increase in unreasonable - I see no correlation with the price increase to the teaching methods or resources that is to be made available for future students. As a result of this unjustified increase, I will have to seriously reconsider my decision to continue on with my studies at TAFE

This substantial increase tuition fees is not justified. I will be looking to other training providers.

50% increase is unreasonable. We all request TAFE to reconsider the increase atleast for Stage 1 students.

The price increase is abusive. I was looking forward to continuing next year but will not be doing so due to the cost. have you considered the possibility of lowering the price?

Iam definitely not coming back due to this price increase. There is no justification for the price increase by 50%, never happens in anywhere else. I would love to continue if there is no change in fees as well as there is guarantee that the stage 2 will be conducted by the same teacher. Iam requesting TAFE to reconsider their decesion and keep the same fees as earlier.
