To: The College of Early Childhood Educators Administration Team,

We, the undersigned members of CECE, request the reconsideration of the annual membership fee increase from $160/year to $175/year, effective October 1, 2024.

Background: The College has announced an increase in the annual membership fee starting October 1, 2024. The fee will rise from $160/year to $175/year, impacting all members whose renewals are due in or after October.

Our Concerns:

- The fee increase may place an undue financial burden on members, many of whom are already managing tight budgets.

- The increase, although the first since 2018, does not align with the financial situations of many members who face economic challenges.

- We believe there may be alternative solutions to manage the College's operational costs without passing the burden onto the members.

Call to Action- We respectfully request the College administration to:

1. Reconsider the proposed fee increase and explore alternative cost-saving measures.

2. Provide a detailed financial report justifying the need for the increase.

3. Engage with the membership to find a mutually acceptable solution that addresses both the College's needs and the members' financial constraints.

By signing this petition, we express our collective concern and urge the College to take immediate action to address our requests.

if we want to entice people to become ECEs, we need to lower our fees. Ontario college of trades charges $67 so why are we do high!!! we can't even compare it to RMTs or OCTs. The pay difference and the union make a huge difference

This increase is very poorly timed with centers struggling with CWELCC funding formulas and RECE workers at their lowest in moral regarding their chosen profession. It makes you wonder if the College is really in touch with the people it is supposed to represent. Shame!

I make $25,000 and that’s too much according to the government and owe $5,000 in taxes as a single income home and trying to support my child I cannot afford the increase. I am starting a second job in 2 weeks to make ends meet.

As a student enrolled in an ECE diploma program I am disappointed to find out that wages haven’t increased and now registration has increased, make it make sense! This has me questioning my career choices after I’m done my program. Do better!

With the cost of living increasing in every single sector, this fee increase is inappropriate and devastating. Stop! ECEs can barely afford to live! Check out the regulating body in British Columbia... they renew every 5 years, with no cost. Support your members!

Increasing an already high amount for this membership is disappointing and disheartening. Most of these memberships are due when we are all on unemployment. And you want to increase it 9.4%, and we received a ludicrous 1% raise. Come on!!
