The council finally voted to approve the sustainability facility at the Measure E site. It has been a long and draining road but we reached the finish line. I am going to rest now and then we will keep a close eye on the construction plans.

Dear Mayor Kou and City Council:
We urge you to deliberate carefully on the future of the Measure E site. Climate change is the gravest challenge of our time. We must do everything in our power to reduce, and eventually eliminate, greenhouse gas emissions. Please explore opportunities to utilize the Measure E site for a sustainability facility to convert sewage sludge (and perhaps other organic waste streams) into renewable energy and biochar to help preserve a livable planet.

I have spent the last few weeks fielding dismissive emails from the council office while trying to keep this project moving forward. It is exhausting work to remind them that this site represents our last real chance to commit to actual climate solutions instead of empty promises. I am tired but I am not walking away from this yet.

Reaching this level of support has been a long road and I admit the exhaustion is setting in. Seeing so many of you connect with the vision for the Measure E site gives me the fuel to keep pushing forward despite the obstacles.

Please, actively explore the options for this land which exploit its proximity to the sewage treatment plant for technologies which improve our environment, such as pyrolysis or conversion of sewage into potable water.
Palo Alto has ambitious climate protection goals, including becoming carbon neutral by 2030. Sustainable technologies will play a critical role in enabling us to meet our goals. The Measure E site, right next to the wastewater treatment plant, is an ideal location for an environmental facility.
I worked to pass Measure E many years ago. We worked to set aside the land for a sustainability facility. The need is as important now as it was then. Do not act before learning about the latest technologies in sewage sludge conversion.
While I love the open space at Byxby Park, it is so important to combat climate change. I think it's good to trade additional open space to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions.
Yes!!! Trucking our toilet & green waste to process/ dump in someone else's community is not a solution. We need to take responsibility for our own waste!
Can Palo Alto build a more sustainable future? We already do pretty well, but we can do even better. Let's make good things happen and show the rest of the Bay Area how it’s done!

Don't go against a measure that passed by 65%. Voters spoke then about their priorities and not enough has changed to reverse the vote. We're still hauling waste and harming the environment
