The developer, Enterprise One, Inc., plans on building 23 townhomes on the site of the historic citrus packing houses in downtown Azusa at 8th and Soldano Avenues. These packing houses represent an important part of Azusa history - the packing houses are currently listed as 8th on the Azusa Survey List of Historic Properties.
Originally the city had planned to help preserve and develop these as a local gathering place with a market and food hall. This would both preserve these buildings and become a destination point for the city, helping to garner new business, and increase sales tax revenue.
The Azusa Cultural Historic and Preservation Commission, which has not met in over 3 years, will conduct a study session on August 28, 2018.
By signing this petition, we ask the city to consider both historical designation for the packing houses and only consider projects that will preserve this important facet of Azusa’s past.

Your dedication gave me the confidence to reach out to the commissioners directly to ensure they understand that our town wants to preserve this legacy.

I live just up the street. I love the history and think this would be an excellent addition to the city to have a market & food hall
Those townhomes won’t be afforded by the families of Azusa. There will be a bunch of APU students. Just pass by the ones near Ross and you’ll see. This will just bring costs up the the locals.
Keep what little history Azusa has left and integrate the old with the new. A food/farmers market would draw people into the downtown area as well and everybody would benefit
The City of Azusa should save and preserve our last packing house. We need to be progressive and look to Claremont andAnaheim as examples of what we can do with this gem.
I pass these historic packing houses all the time and wonder why the City has not done something to preserve them for our community, especially in light of the new Transit development. The only ideas the City seems to have are more and more townhomes. Azusans deserve better than that. Visit Claremont's award-winning Packing House or Santa Anita mall's Packing House-themed food court for some inspiration.

Let's preserve some history in a city that is well over 100 years old. Perhaps the Azusa Historical Society can expand in those warehouses or new restaurants can open keeping history alive while bringing in business to the city. Route 66 runs through Azusa, there's natural beauty in the Canyon City, let's celebrate and preserve!

Let's keep our history! Our history tells our story and preserves the past for future generations. Glendora is preserving the old Wonder Bread factory on Arrow Hwy. and will reuse as a marketplace. That will bring so much attention and revenue to their city. Our packing houses are perfect for something like this. The entire design can use the orange packing house style! Please keep our history!!
