We the people of clay county and surrounding areas are trying to get a ride away to the popular tree in widen wv a historic tree they everyone from residents of surrounding counties and out of state people came to visit which is now blocked off by a hunting club
The momentum behind this fight proves that people are tired of a private club locking us out of our own local history. This reach shows that we have the backing to force these gatekeepers to open the path back up.

This tree is a landmark. Its apart of history. No one should be allowed to block it! I understand hunting club leasing. Remove the gates that block access to the tree and use them to prevent non hunting club members from entering the actual woods of the hunting area. Anyome who has seen the tree itself would know that you can't really hunt there anyways.

I grew up in Widen. Every time we got visitors, we would take them to see the "big tree" it was our claim to fame. Its a landmark. Should be accessible to the public to appreciate.

When I was in the Brownies we all circled the tree. I wish I could remember how many of us it took. Great memories

Perhaps run the fence closer to the tree where it can be observed but also be protected from people who would and that have damaged the tree. People have built I fire
