The committee overturned the ban this morning and our pool toys are allowed back in the water. I am tired after these weeks of back and forth but I am grateful we held our ground. We still need to keep an eye on how they handle the upcoming review process …

With the re-opening of Pool #3, the use of select pool toys at the other pools between 1-4pm has been rescinded by the Pool Committee.

We would like to highlight that the select approved pool toys are more than entertainment for the adults and kids who use our pools. Approved pool toys:

  • Help the most timid children enter the pool for the first time because they have their favorite toy
  • Provide social tools to help kids learn to interact, share and most importantly play with other children
  • Support the more experienced children to practice diving and swimming underwater.
  • Provide entertainment for the visiting grandchildren
  • Noodles support the kids who are too big for the life jacket, but still honing their swimming skills.
  • Noodles support the adults who need a little extra help in the pool.

We appreciate the Pool Committee adjusting the rules last year with the closure of Pool #3 to permit approved toys in all open pools between 1-4pm and we believe this change has shown a happy middle ground for all related to approved pool toys over the past two pool seasons.

We, the residents of Heritage Hills, are requesting the Board and Pool Committee reconsider their decision and permit the use of select approved pool toys at all pools between 1-4pm for the remainder of the 2015 season and form a review committee for the options for 2016.

Seeing this level of backing from our neighbors makes the long hours of fighting this committee feel worth the effort. It is draining to keep pushing against these arbitrary rules but your response tells me we are not alone in this struggle.

My granddaughter visits often and I would like for her to have the option of using noodles in any of the pools. We live near 3 but would like to be able to use other pools with toys too!!!

Goggles on children are not in any way disturbing to grownups in any of the pools. Also, adults should be allowed the use of noodles without getting a doctor's note. Sounds like we're back in school again!

The current toys allowed are minimal. By only allowing any toys in one pool, we are not making HH a family friendly enviornment. In addition, we are asking for overcrowding of both pool#3 and it's parking lot,

At least we should allow noodles, swim goggles & fins and quiet enjoyment toys. I think it's the throwing-type toys that most people object to. As an adult noodle-user, I think the committee needs to re-consider this policy.

Last year my granddaughter was told to wait two hours before using a noodle in the pool. I saw another senior with a noodle before the appointed hour and was told that woman had a doctor's note. Noodles are devices to encourage young swimmers. They should not require doctor's notes and be considered toys.

My son is 10. He loves to swim in the deep end of the pool one but also loves to play with a soft ball while sitting on a noodle. I'm not sure he would like to go to the pool with the "no toy" rule. Kids don't like the pool like adults do. They get bored if they can't play.

It is nice to see children. We are getting younger people and it is nice we were all young at one time.
