The city finally decided not to renew the lease for the current league. Watching these fields sit empty used to break my heart for my kids, but now we have a real shot at building the program they deserve.

This petition is in response to the current state of youth soccer in Polk County TX. We the citizens of Polk County feel that the current youth soccer league, Livingston Youth Soccer Association, (hereby referred to as LYSA) has been severely mismanaged and as a result have done a poor job of representing and administering the true game of soccer to the youth of Polk County. The current league, LYSA, has openly expressed to the public that those who wish to play soccer in a competitive environment are not welcome. They (LYSA) have used the description of being a "fun league" in order to excuse a lack of referees, poorly-maintained fields, a closed Board, and excessive fund raisers that do nothing to improve the sport of soccer for the youth of Polk County. As a result many kids leave Polk County in order to play soccer in fun, organized, and competitive environments. Others who are unable to travel are left with no alternative but to stop playing a game they love because they are either unwelcome at LYSA or have no desire to play in an environment where the cost to play is far greater than the quality of soccer they are experiencing. Therefore we the citizens of Polk County are petitioning the city of Livingston to not renew the lease agreement for Livingston Youth Soccer Association in 2017. We request that Polk County Youth Soccer Association (hereby referred to as PCYSA) be given the opportunity to lease the soccer fields at Pedigo Park. PCYSA is a recognized 501C3 Non Profit Organization, a member of South Texas Youth Soccer Association, with an established Board and Bylaws. PCYSA was formed in response to the overwhelming demand by the citizens of Polk County for a better environment for Youth Soccer in Polk County. The goal of PCYSA is to repair the image of youth soccer in Livingston TX and reverse the trend of our children having to leave the county to play soccer. Instead our focus will be to make Livingston TX the Hub for Youth Soccer in Polk County. We will achieve this by providing a fun, organized, safe, and competitive environment that is exclusive to none and welcoming to all. With the support of our community and our childrens' interests at heart we ask that Polk County Youth Soccer Association be given the opportunity to lease the soccer fields at Pedigo Park.

Seeing 250 names on this list hits home because I know exactly how many families are tired of driving out of town just so their kids can play a real game. We are finally gaining enough momentum to force the city to pay attention to what our children actually deserve.

Seeing this kind of momentum feels like the first real step toward giving our kids the league they deserve. My own son stopped playing because the field conditions were dangerous and I refuse to let that be the final answer for the children in this county.

I left LYSA because of the poor management and unprofessionalism of the league. There is not an open board, the board is made up of a group of friends and family for the most part. From my observation there seems to be an abuse of funds. Tons of fundraisers, sponsor's etc. but yet not there seems to be nothing to show for it.
We have been traveling to Lufkin the last few years to play in the lufkin league. I wish we can get a better organization here in Livingston to help the youth.
The league has gone down hill, we have had a coach one year that never showed up, which forced my wife to coach, the lack of mangment is horrible, when they were using refs we were constantly have to wait 30 minutes or longer for one to show up, LYSA is ridiculous which is why my kids will not be playing this season.
Cindy we agree that kids need to have fun. With that said many children enjoy competing in sports. There is a misconception that LYSA has created, that implies that soccer cannot be both fun and competitive. With that said there is nothing FUN about playing in ankle high grass, with large holes on the field, and no referee's to control the game. Thank you for your support.
Yep played only one year due to lack of care for fields and non trained referees. Only cared about money nothing else. The books should be available to the public being a non profit organization. I use to be over youth football and our books were open to public.
Let's bring kids soccer to polk county!
My daughter has only played 1 season of soccer and she fell in love with it and we want it to continue, she was so heart broken she couldn't play last time

I work for the city of Livingston and my shop is at pedigo park so I'm always seeing the fields and they are mistreated and I remember playing as a kid how awesome the league was and how beautiful the fields were. But here as of late they have gone downhill.
