I never got a card to apply for a recycle bin and apparently there are still 100,000 homes without them. Now the manufacturer has shut the facility down due to some emergency so who knows when we will get them
You cannot get through on the phone to request one as constantly engaged
The old system was great yard waste, recycle, and trash all picked up the same day
Why on earth change this, bigger bins yes, two collection days no
The people collecting yard waste want everything in black bags or won't pick up
Maybe we should all call the commissioner to complain 863 534 6000 to get it changed back to one day a week, how on earth are the elderly or infirm going to cope with 2 days a week

This new "recycling" program is horrible! No one answers a phone at the county, very few people got a bin whether they returned the postcard or not. Having recycling and yard waste on one day and trash on another is ridiculous, there is absolutely no reason to split the pickup days.
We did happen to be at our home when the post card arrived so we were lucky to get a bin....I did not see a list of the acceptable recycling? For us that use our home for short term rental 2 day pickups will definitely deter our renters from recycling. As well with HOA strict regulations I could see more violations being handed out for bins left on curb. Again I know this only effects us short term rental owners but will definitely cause issues.
Why does any community want trash cans out 2 days per week? It will just encourage people not to recycle.
The new system is not fair and should revert to a single collection day. The amount of items that can be recycled is appalling and should be increased

As a property manager with houses in the two Polk County zones we have 4 pick up days! And with HOA’s not wanting any bins out too early or too long this means driving around 5 to 6 Times a week! This will be a mess throughout Polk County with so many rental properties around.
