Protect our Homes and Hills is a grassroots citizen group made up of Yorba Linda residents concerned about the safety and feasibility of two massive housing projects of about 500 new homes proposed in the steep fire prone hills next to our community. Both project sites burned to the ground in the Freeway Complex Fire of 2008. They burned THREE TIMES before that. These additional homes would only add additional fuel to the inevitable future fire in this area. If approved, the two projects would add approximately 4500 vehicle trips a day to already overburdened Yorba Linda streets. With Yorba Linda High School and Travis Ranch Elementary and Junior High School over capacity, the result of these new homes will be detrimental to all of the kids who attend these schools. There is no upside to the building of these projects, only downside. Preserve public safety in Yorba Linda.

I spent the afternoon walking the perimeter of the proposed site and remembering the smell of smoke from the fire that took so much from us years ago. We are currently compiling the traffic reports and school density data requested by the planning commission to show them exactly why these hills are too dangerous for new construction.

Seeing this kind of movement confirms that my neighbors share my deep anxiety about these hills. I remember watching those fires creep toward our backyards and knowing that more houses only means more danger for our families.

the roads cant handle it. plain and simple. emergency vehicles will never get through if everyone is stuck in construction traffic

Ridiculous to build in a known fire zone. My family lost everything in 08 and we dont need to repeat that nightmare.

traffic is already a nightmare on Yorba Linda Blvd. adding 500 homes is just asking for a disaster when the next fire hits.

Please protect our community. Those of us who live here know exactly how dangerous those hills are in fire season.

KEEP THE HILLS CLEAR. We already saw what happens when the wind picks up and the brush catches. Stop the greed!

Our schools are packed enough as it is. Leave the hills alone.
