In less than a week Vancouver City Council will meet to hold a public hearing into the governance of Hasting Park in Vancouver BC. Of the two outcomes possible, one would see the Pacific National Exhibition have control over the grounds in Hastings Park. In the other option, the Vancouver Parks Board would take over the governance of the site. As it stands, having the parks board take over the site would inevitably be the end of the PNE. As it stands, Hastings Park is one of the most diverse and accessible places in Vancouver. Not only home to the annual fair but also home to countless other events and open spaces. The PNE provides employment and economic spinoffs that support not only families but also charities. Generous donations to the Hastings Little League and others are a small portion of what they do. To lose such a key and important organization to the people of BC is something we can not let happen. Please show your support for the PNE and sign this petition and if you have time, attend the council meeting on July 24th, 2013 and show city council how you feel.
