Final supporters
A baby grand piano was donated to Music Studies last week (the owner even paid $400 to have it moved!). Currently, it is in the lobby where students are playing it. The piano will also be used for small performances and to play for events, such as the Art Gallery openings and awards ceremonies. We are being pressured to lock the piano in a practice room. Obviously, we do not want to do this. It's been a pleasure to hear students play the piano all day (today we heard Debussy!). We are asking you to sign this petition to show your support for keeping the piano in the Tower Fine Arts lobby. Let's keep the piano in the open where it can be played and enjoyed by everyone.*

The department heads think they can just shove this piano into a dusty practice room and pretend nobody cares. They are wrong because we have clearly reached a level of momentum that they can no longer ignore. Keep the pressure on these bureaucrats until they realize this instrument belongs to the students and the public.

Leaving the piano accessible for playing encourages the students' love of music and reenforces the college's stated committment to developing its music programs.
I think the piano adds to the nuance of the room. It is also cool for students who are not in the major who enjoy playing piano to have a place to play at their leisure
Non-music students don't usually have access or priority to practice rooms. This piano can easily serve as a piece of home for anyone who plays piano (or wants to learn)
Tower Fine Art's beautiful atrium can only be improved by this piano staying where it is.
I love the piano, and would love to be able to play it myself after getting out of class. I also enjoy hearing others play the piano. I would suggest that the piano be locked during shows and performances, though.
THANK YOU EVERYONE!! Your voice has been heard! The piano is staying in the lobby! We will put it on a brace to protect the legs and we will lock it on nights and weekends. It's been a complete joy listening to people, mostly students, play it every day! Enjoy!!
