Plan to reduce Culpeper County Animal Shelter’s Euthanasia rate!

We, the taxpayers of Culpeper County, kindly request that the Culpeper County Animal Shelter adopt the following improvements. First and foremost, all stray animals must be posted on the shelter's Facebook page within 24 hours of their arrival to facilitate owner recognition. Furthermore, unclaimed dogs should be tested with other dogs and cats, photographed, and posted on Facebook, Petfinder, and Adopt a Pet for sharing across social media platforms. Similarly, unclaimed cats should be posted on the same platforms. In addition, we propose publishing a weekly summary of available animals for adoption and success stories of dogs adopted every Monday on the shelter's Facebook page, including photos and descriptions. To promote adoption, we recommend monthly adoption events and promotion on the shelter's Facebook page. Finally, three daily dog walking sessions are expected for all dogs that are able to be walked safely, with one of those being time off-leash in the fenced-in yard, and visual confirmation is required.
