The city has finally agreed to stop pushing us out of these industrial zones. It was a long fight that exhausted all of us but we proved that these spaces matter. Rest for now because we will be watching to make sure they actually follow through.

By signing this petition we can oppose the new zoning by-law 569-2013 that targets new places of minority places of worship & faith based private schools.
About the By-Law 569-2013
The City of Toronto presented a new by-law that is effectively removing all zoning for places of worship, faith-based private schools and only allowing permits in very expensive commercial zones. A significant number of places of worship are in light industrial zones for two primary reasons; availability and affordability.

The climb toward one hundred signatures is slow and frankly exhausting. I need you to reach out to your own circles because we cannot afford to let this momentum die now.

Ridiculous bylaw. Places of worship serve the community and belong where the people are not just in expensive commercial zones.
City hall needs to wake up and see that these spaces are vital for us. Do not approve this 569-2013 mess.
The city is making it so expensive that only the rich will be able to have a place to pray. Shameful.
This is completely unfair. Finding a space that is actually affordable in this city is hard enough without the government making it impossible.
my kids school is in a light industrial zone and it works great. why change what isnt broken?? leave our building alone.

STOP TRYING TO PUSH US OUT. WE HAVE JUST AS MUCH RIGHT TO BE IN THESE NEIGHBORHOODS AS ANYONE ELSE.
