Savannah’s pickleball community is growing and we want to put our full support behind Chatham County and the city of Savannah building permanent, standalone pickleball nets. Pickleball is a massive wave across the United States, with more courts and tournaments popping up.

Pickleball: The fastest growing sport you've never heard of

Palmetto Dunes on Hilton Head has 16 public courts, and is adding 8 more. Griffin, GA has 18 permanent courts available for play. Macon, GA is building courts as well. Atlanta has now hosted multiple nationally visited tournaments on the permanent courts there. Camden, SC has 12 courts.

It’s not just a recreational desire, there is economic opportunity. Both Palmetto Dunes and Atlanta are now hosts on the pickleball tournament circuit. These draw in 1,000+ professional and amateur players, and fans, for multiple days. People aren’t only traveling to tournaments, more people are traveling with pickleball in mind, and we are a city that leans heavily on the tourism industry. The Landings currently hosts an annual tournament with over 150 players attending each year.

Anyone for pickleball? Resorts embrace booming sport.

As Savannah/Chatham County residents and avid pickleball players, we think our community has an opportunity to satisfy a growing desire among residents, and to be on the front end of the expanding economic opportunity that pickleball is becoming.

The growth of this petition has successfully captured the attention of local city planners. My team is now finalizing a formal proposal to present to the Parks and Recreation oversight committee later this week.

I am in Beaufort, SC, and really want to move to Savannah. One of my two requirements: good, public PB courts. I'm doing my research. Other cities are being considered due to the lack of public PB in Savannah. If you want retirees who bring money into the economy, public PB should be a priority.

I run the Pickleball program at Jenkins Athletic Club. It is the fastest growing sport in the country and Savannah should be on top hosting a pickleball arena with 10-12 courts and lights. Let me know how I can help!!

YES -- way overdue !!! The possible revenue from hosting tournament would justify any expense -- with the Lake Mayer courts so close to lodging & restaurants, it's a perfect venue for Pickle tournaments !!!

Savannah could be a hub for tournament play. We have a great city full of talent. Let’s put ourselves on the Pickleball map.

I've met so many people and made many friends playing Pickleball. It's a great sport not just for competition but also recreation and socializing. If you build it they will come!!
