To whom it may concern,

According to club sports' newly updated bylaws, all members of club sports who would like to receive PA credit must attend two (2) argus events. These argus events consist of the training day and one (1) actual argus event at either Mile High or CU.

I'm starting a petition to send to the Dean of Students to have him remove this requirement.

It is unethical to force club sports participants to attend these out of school events for a grade.

Physical Activity (PA) credit should be based on literal physical activity, like it was meant to be, such as what it has been based on historically: attendance and participation in practice and competition.

Additionally these bylaws were not approved by a majority of the club sports the club sports council oversees. In fact, it was only approved by the registrar and the 6 people on the club sports council which did not include the Dean of Students.

Also, the club sports council did not effectively communicate the changes to the members of club sports.

Additionally, many students have other obligations, or work full time to ensure they can attend the Colorado School of Mines and cannot be expected to sacrifice their own education for the ridiculous expectations set by the club sports authority.

The signatures below represent the participants in club sports who believe that this outrageous requirement is outside the bounds of what club sports can require of its constituents.

While we understand argus events are crucial to the fundraising efforts of club sports, we cannot condone this forced requirement for the sake of PA credit, a requirement to graduate.

To be clear, we do not want argus to be eliminated. We just cannot allow it to be required to receive PA credit.

Respectfully,

Club Sports Participants
