Currently there is a clause in the DigiPen "Student Club Handbook" barring athletic and physical activities in regards to student clubs.
The clause states: "Athletics and Physical Activity Clubs: Athletic and/or physical activity groups may not meet on campus and are not eligible for student funds."
This petition aims at retracting, amending, or restructuring the clause in a manner that would allow athletic clubs to be supported by DigiPen.

I really thought this might just float around in the void but seeing this kind of energy behind the cause makes me think we might actually get someone to look at that handbook again. It is wild how many of you feel the same about needing a place to move around while we are stuck in labs all day.

Sitting at a desk for 12 hours a day is literally killing my back. Just let us play soccer or basketball on the weekend.
It would be so nice to actually move around once in a while. Being stuck in the lab all semester is exhausting.
I think some sort of physical is mandatory specially in this school. It will help a lot.
We need something beyond the ping-pong club (which also isn't active right now) with obviously more funding.
In high school I worked out and played soccer but haven’t gotten to do either since starting at DP. Physical exercise is great for dealing with stress I would love to be able to join a soccer club or something else active
I like sports

Students are smart and need a chance to release stress, frustration, and bond with others over wholesome activity. Another effect is the health benefits of physical activity, which many around here could use.
