Students who currently participate in extra curricular activities such as but not limited to: choir, band, sports whose regulating authorities approve, clubs, etc. at Grand Ledge High School are not allowed to continue doing those activities if they wish to switch to online schooling through Relevant Academy online school. This petition will be presented to GLHS staff in hopes to change this for students who wish to continue their sports and activafter they switch to online schooling. This only applies to students who have attended GLHS in the past and participated in an activity there. This petition will not apply to Relevant Academy students who wish to start a new activity

I believe this is not right because there may be a kid who is in a terrible spot in school and can’t focus based on the social pressure of school. They should still be able to participate in sports to have that close social interactions. If they meet the requirements to play sports they should be able to even though they are taking online classes.

Home schooled students are allowed, soooo those who live in GL, pay taxes in GL OR go to a “non-traditional school” in GL should be allowed to participate.

Please use wisdom in considering this and helping kids in need and who are doing everything possible to work and complete their education as well as find activities that help them physically, socially and mentally.

Grand ledge could face a huge law suit for this!!!!!!!! As someone else said, it’s discrimination and extremely wrong. If a student has health, mental, physical etc problems and are doing a homebound/online/relevant class, they should still be allowed to participate in a Grand ledge sport considering THEYRE apart of the district still.

I think students who are currently participating in GLHS sports should still be allowed to participate even if switching to online school. Especially, if the sport is not funded by the school (ex. The Pompon team). As long as the student upholds the GLHS athlete grade requirements and participates in the fundraising for the funding of the team, they should be allowed to participate.

I would like for kids to be able to continue playing sports, switching to an online class shouldn’t make them illegible for sports, they are still a part of our community and deserve to be included.

Olivia should be able to do Pom Pom she is still technically a grand ledge student will have a grand ledge diploma. This same situation happened to me when I started doing school through graduation alliance I have a grand ledge diploma but I’m sent aloud to continue archery. It’s not okay. Traditional schooling isn’t for everyone and that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be able to participate in fun activities that help their mental health.
