Petition to Remove Argus Events as Requirements for PA Credit

Attention All: I just wanted to inform you that argus is not a requirement to receive PA credit. Thank you to all that sprung to action over your Halloween Weekend. Just so you are aware, there are about 275 participants in club sports and about half of them signed this within 72 hours. Kudos to you all for being so proactive and truly showing that certain issues do matter. Your voices were heard, congratulations. This issue is hereby resolved.

Well its the president of each teams job to read and update the bylaws every year. Club sports sent every team an email telling them to do just that last spring. For anyone who has not read their team bylaws, you will probably also not be happy to learn that club sports inserted a clause about everyone on the team being required to provide 10 addresses for solicitation with a punishment of non-compliance of not being able to participate the next semester. The good news is that if you don't like all this stuff, you can amend your bylaws! There are directions for how to amend the bylaws in the bylaws. So I would highly recommend advising your team leadership to pay attention to the bylaws. If you don't want to have to worry about argus events or solicitation letters then join the Triathlon Team! We don't have any of these requirements.

Apparently club sports updated their bylaws over the summer to say that in order to receive PA credit, you had to complete 2 argus events. Too bad literally nobody reads bylaws. To be clear, the only requirement to receive PA credit should remain as it has been historically: a coach's signature on your attendance at practice and games.

Can someone tell me where this requirement is stated? Is it everyone's club bylaws or is there a list of requirements for PA credit posted somewhere, outside of the bylaws?

I work and go to school full time and mandatory volunteer work takes time out of both

Argus doesn't even make sense for me to attend because I can earn money at a higher rate with my own jobs, and I don't have to buy special cloths or commute to Denver. I'd much rather pay higher dues or make a donation to the team than attend Argus events. My time is the most valuable resource at my disposal, and Argus events waste a lot of it.

I have been a participant of club sports for three years and have had to do Argus for two of the three. I do not enjoy the Argus events because I always feel very mistreated and don't enjoy partaking in a highly disorganized business.
