Please write your name in support of providing existing my MIB students with transportation from the district. Both of ourchildren have attended MIB since they were in kindergarten. We used to live in the South Grove addition of Mountain Iron but moved to Iron September of 2012. I was an activeemployee of the district and never required transportation until my recent layoff. I have asked for transportation and havebeen refused. They stated it would be a 15 minute route disruption. We live only 4 minutes away from the RRD crossing by West Eveleth and 4 minutes from a stop on Elbow Lake Road.
The district has yet to provide a formal response regarding the requested route adjustments. I am currently documenting the inconsistencies in their transportation policy to present at the next board meeting.

The response to this request for transportation services has been significant. This momentum indicates that our community recognizes the importance of equitable access for all students within the district.

I had to fight for bus rights for my kids when they were in school too. Parents need to do what is right for their kids. I totaly support you in this. The school can work it out if they put their heads together & do what is best for the kids!

This family has attended MIB since their academic start! They should be able to continue at MIB. We lived on Lake Leander and my children had to endure over an hour on the bus each way! So don't tell me this family is too far or out of the way! Ha!

The school is willing to provide bus routes to other area children, why not provide pick up to the Ollila family?

The Ollila family is in a very hard position. I really appreciate that u come get my boys. I'm not sure how transportation decisions are made, but please consider that the Ollilas have supported the district and are a part of the MIB family/community.

please provide transportation for these kids. Just because they moved they shouldn't be punished. What happened to OPEN ENROLLMENT?
