To Bordentown Township Committee:
This is a petition signed by the homeowners of the Grande at Crystal Lake and surrounding communities. The reason for this petition is that we oppose a Quick Check Gas Station /Convenience Store on Burlington Road & Route 130. Allowing it in our neighborhood would set the stage for additional undesirable development - all at a time when we are trying to attract quality development. The proposed gas station would be in very close proximity to people’s backyards where a lot of families and children gather and play.
Aside from being a threat to the Delaware river and to the wetlands next to the proposed site, this type of business - which would be open 24 hours a day 7 days a week including holidays, emitting loud noises from cars pulling in and out, pollution and environmental concerns for our residents. The air around gas stations have been found to have significantly higher levels of carcinogens such as Benzene that put current and future generations at higher risk for various cancers.
This type of businesswould decrease our property values while increasing crime; it will create a chokepoint for traffic, encourage loitering, and attract transients to the area. Gas stations bring lights, chemical, noise, and trash pollution with it - we do not want to allow it to close to the vicinity of our homes where our children play.
Since the new traffic light has been installed, we have heard an increase in engine breaking, horns blowing and screeching of tires. The light at Burlington Road & Route 130 has created additional light pollution and noise due to18 wheelers stopping at the light and then shifting through their multiple gears. Bordentown Township already has over 11 gas stations, and multiple 24 x 7 convenience stores. The residents of Grande Crystal Lake and nearby communities, as well as our supporters who sign this petition are not against land development but would like a more resident-friendly business. We do not need nor do we want another gas station or convenience directly across the street from our homes.
In order to preserve our environment, the integrity of this area, the character of our neighborhood and to protect the many citizens that will be negatively impacted by the development plans to build a gas station and convenience store we respectfully urge Bordentown Township not to allow the rezoning and proposed development plans to build a Quick check gas station/convenience store in our community!
Sincerely,
Residents of Bordentown Township

I started this because I was worried about our backyards and the safety of our kids but I am truly overwhelmed by how many of you feel the exact same way. Hearing your stories about how this development would change our daily lives has been eye opening and it keeps me focused on why we began this in the first place.

Seeing this grow has been completely overwhelming and I keep having to remind myself that this momentum belongs to all of you. It is honestly humbling to see so many neighbors stepping up to protect where we live. I never imagined this would reach so many people.

I don't want this to be built because it is directly behind my house. Not only will it cause more bad traffic it puts my house and the other houses at danger because people can now just walk through my backyard from across the highway rt 130. This is going to attract the wrong kind of people since it is 24 hours and I don't want that behind my house.
Hi! my name is lorenza and I am 10yrs old and I do not feel safe gas station in the back of my baby cousins house.
The noise and traffic nightmare, including the safety concerns this unwarranted project will bring to our calm and peacefull community is unacceptable. This will devalue our property. This residential area is now been turned into a mixed use which does not marry is poor judgement.
I am opposed to yet another gas station being built in Bordentown. If our elected officials do not understand by now that the residents of this town have been asking for other high end retailers to locate here, this truly shows you do not listen to the people, and as such, should be voted out of office.
I am thoroughly opposed to the building of the proposed Quick Check. There is no need to build another gas station, let alone a 24/7 hour gas station here by close proximity of residential homes. Not only are there the stated issues in the petition, but combined with River Line access, the facility opens the door to other potential conflicts.
I strongly oppose
I oppose building the Quickcheck, as it has the potential to decrease home. Additionally, we do not want the added noise or potential extra traffic this new business would cause. We are VERY opposed to the Quickcheck being built.

Who want a gas station next to their community ?. We already have 4 gas stations in a span of 2 miles on either side of the proposed site. The impact of this on the community is huge. a) Drop in house value b) Noise and Light pollution c) Oil seepage into the ground d) Such sites attract lot of unwanted activity around it
