We believe the university should provide fashion and studio art students with the opportunity to study abroad in the spring, as well as the fall. The Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts prides itself on interdisciplinary learning, and much of the coursework is shared between students of art, architecture, fashion, and design. The nature of art practices today is largely collaborative, and we believe that the opportunity to study abroad with our peers in various fields would be extremely beneficial to our development and remain true to the Sam Fox mission. With a great but limited opportunity to only study abroad in one program during one semester, we feel more limited than any of our peers in other schools throughout Washington University in St. Louis. If a limited number of students attends the fall program and these students work in different media, we believe providing ample faculty support across different fields could prove problematic; we believe offering a spring program would augment enrollment in the fashion and studio art programs. We appreciate the receptiveness of the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis, and we hope they will listen to our voiced concerns.
sam fox students pay as much as everyone else to go to this school and should have the option to go where they want to as long as they are able to set up their own plan.
