The feedback regarding local access to public walkways has been enlightening and reinforces the need for this legislative change. I am currently coordinating with city officials to present these findings during the next council review session.

The momentum generated by this proposal indicates a widespread desire for more accessible recreational spaces within our city. This progress confirms that the community recognizes the validity of our argument for responsible adult skateboarding.

Why should a non-motorized vehicle be prohibited on the sidewalk? Skateboarders can't ride on the roads legally or safely, so where can they ride? Please allow skateboarding to continue to flourish in Hammond. Dreamland was built for a reason!!
Skating is a means of transportation and is WAAAY easier and more enjoyable on sidewalks. These knuckleheads need to come to a college university. A LOT of people skate, and NOTHING happens. I don't understand the problem? Is it because people stare at their phones and get surprised when a skateboarder is flying by them? How about pay attention to your surroundings. Revise this measure.
I didn't know this was illegal. ?!? Why?
This should have been amended long ago
It is a mode of transportation that is completely acceptable.
Skating should always be legal. Would we prefer people to pick up burglary as a hobby?

While I don't skateboard myself, and due to a bone disease, never will, I completely support this. Look at information on other locations that have approved this same movement, you'll see that there's no good reason NOT to allow this.
