The cab drivers and companies of Oshawa are trying to get the city to close down the Designated Driving Services/Companies, claiming that the DD companies are illegal and doing the jobs of taxi cabs. The cab drivers have had their say with city council, our turn as Designated Drivers is coming up.
We have no issues with the city council regulating this industry contrary to the beliefs of the cab drivers around the region.
We Drive, DD Kingz and A Ryde Home would like your support by signing this petition to keep Designated Driving Services around and prove to city council that this is a wellappreciatedand wanted service within the community.

The scale of this support has secured us a formal hearing with the city council. We are now finalizing our presentation to outline how these services operate under existing municipal regulations.

A taxi doesn't get your car home too! If DD driving companies can provide a service to keep drunk drivers off the road then why would ban their services??
Designated Drivers are needed in every town and city...they provide a needed service to get people and their vehicles home. They don't just picknup people who have been dri king, they pick up from the hospital...eg-someone going for years and they drive themselves to the hospital but find out they Re not allowed to drive home..well they call a DD and get themselves and car home..they also pick people who are tired....its not just a service Industry for people who drink...I think this is a misconception and I frown upon the use of the word " Drunks" when referring to the customers who use this service...please sign this petition in support of this great industry!!
DD serive and Cab drives offer totally diferent sirevices. and both should be aload to oporate.
This is an essential service that I use regularly within the Durham Region and feel it is necessary to keep drunk drivers off the road.
they are taking away from taxi drivers..they don't need schoolin or tons of other services a taxi driver need..cpr criminal scerches medicals
plus the insurance..they get into a accident with you your screwed .cant sue them cuz they don't have proper insurance
some DONT even have insurance or sticker..some of them right outta jail ..you want to be drunk goin who knows where !!! no PROTECTION ...then what? laying in a ditch purse stolen rapped or even DEAD! please think hard taxi which is safe or dd from who knows where!... Like · Reply · 11 mins

I use this service all the time. Removing this service is the craziest thing i have heard. It will force people to drink and drive.
