The purpose of this petition is to have the City of Marion install a traffic light at the meeting of 44th Street and SR 9. This intersection presents several concerns and ongoing dangers, including but not limited to the following:
1. Visibility is limited when two vehicles are both stopped, waiting to proceed with a left turn or to cross the intersection. (Further when in leaf, there is a tree that obstructs view)
2. Vehicles may have extend waits, especially at busy times, to turn left or to proceed across the intersection because of the common flow of traffic.
3. Cyclists must use extreme caution when crossing this intersection.
4. Vehicles travel at significant speed that can cause damage and injury through this part of the roadway, even when appropriate caution is being shown.
As a result, I heather Perry of 4113 Thompson Drive and the following residents of Heritage at University Village and surrounding neighborhoods and businesses, are petitioning that a traffic light be installed at the meeting of 44th and SR9 to control traffic and limit danger.

Make it happen and also the straight arrow and the turn left should be in the same lane where as the right turn should be by itself as it makes no sense how it is now.
Authorities, please remember that a vehicle accident at that intersection on Christmas Eve 2017 injured two young girls and killed their mother. Worth keeping in mind...and the weather was clear and cold that day.

I almost got T-boned there last week trying to turn onto 44th. People drive way to fast on SR 9 and nobody seems to care. Put a light in before someone else gets hurt.
